Structural Transformation and Economic Growth (STEG) is a research initiative funded by FCDO that aims to provide a better understanding of structural change, productivity, and growth in low- and middle-income countries. STEG research will help to design and implement strategies that better facilitate growth.
Y-RISE is a member of the STEG consortium, with other participating members including Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), Oxford University, University of Notre Dame, African Center for Economic Transformation, University of Groningen.
Y-RISE researchers are focusing on the role of electrification in structural change. On-going work, as part of this partnership, has aimed to understand how electricity reliability affects business entry and investment in the medium-term.
